Ante-Natal Care

We are able to provide much of the ongoing care for you in your pregnancy. Care is shared between the midwives and the doctors. The Midwives visit the practice on Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings as well as undertaking some home visits.

Chronic Disease Care
We offer apointments to co-ordinate the management of care for people with many long term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, emphysema, angina and so on. These are administered by one of the practice Health Care Assistants. You will be seen by a number of professionals in the team.

Counselling
We have two counsellors in the practice. To arrange to see a counsellor, you will need to discuss your needs with your GP who can make a referral. There are also facilities for other forms of counselling such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in the area. These again will require a referral.

Please consult your usual GP if there is something you wish to be considered for removal by minor op. Please note we do not cauterise warts, there being little evidence that it is any more successful than simple treatments.

Special Tests
We provide appointments for a number of special investigations. Appointments for all these can be made at the reception desk. Tests that can be provised on site include Blood taking (phlebotomy), ECGs, Breathing tests (spirometry) and Breath tests for stomach infections.

Stopping smoking (Help to Quit)
We offer sessions to help you stop smoking. This is part of the county wide Help to Quit programme. We strongly encourage you to use this free service to stop smoking as it maximises your chance of success.
If you are pregnant, we can offer you a fast track into the service in order to help you stop as soon as possible to protect the baby's health as well as your own. Please mention your pregnancy when asking to joint the H2Q programme at the reception desk.

Travel Appointments
We can offer advice and vaccinations for your overseas travelling. We recommend that you consult the nurse at least 2-6 weeks prior to the trip in order to allow any necessary vacination courses to be completed.

Well Woman/Man appointments
The nurses offer appointments to review your health even when you are well. This allows you to stay as healthy as possible in the longterm. Please ask specifically for this type of appointment at the reception desk.
