Book Appointment

Seeing the Doctor

We aim to offer a personal and efficient service by offering both pre-bookable appointment sessions and “same-day access” sessions.

You should always endeavour to see the same Doctor for continuity of care, however you are free to see any of the other Doctors.  We provide a large number of appointments on the day to enable patients who need to be seen immediately to be booked in, so for instance should you or your child suffer an urgent or distressing condition you can obtain a medical opinion that morning or afternoon.  Other appointments are bookable up to four weeks in advance.

Appointments are usually for ten minutes unless it is for minor Surgery or a medical examination, which takes longer.  Please inform the Receptionist if this is the case.

Extended Hours Appointments

GP practices across Telford and Wrekin are participating in the delivery of a national extended hours service, giving our patients access to additional appointments up to 8.00pm in the evenings and at weekends (now also including on Bank Holidays).

Please call or pop in to your GP practice to get more information or to book an appointment with a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional.

Telephone system

We are a very busy practice. Lots of patients phone first thing in the morning. If the line is busy, we have a queuing system and your call will be answered as soon as a receptionist is available.

If you want an appointment with your doctor, the receptionist will ask you if the problem is NEW or ONGOING, or they may ask “have you seen the doctor with this problem before?” This is a very important question to help give you the right appointment. They will not ask any medical questions or expect you to tell them anything about your problem.

Appointments can be made by calling the Appointment Line: 01952 660444 or at the reception.

Please remember to cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend. We can then offer that appointment to another patient.

Practice Nurses

The nurses can offer a variety of appointment types ranging from wound care to contraception.

Home Visits

It is always preferable if patients can try to come to the surgery where the best facilities are available.  Most patients do attend the surgery.  Urgent cases can be fitted in when appropriate, so please let the receptionist know if you feel this situation applies to you or your child.  This will be quicker than waiting for the doctor to attend on a house call.

Please try and ring before 10.30am and speak to your doctor to discuss your needs. Home visits are for people too ill to come down to the surgery. Lack of transport is NOT a reason for a home visit.

Extended Hours Surgeries

The Practice also offers appointments on Saturdays. Please ask at Reception for more information.

During Surgery hours an emergency is a medical problem that needs attention within 30 minutes. After hours it is a medical problem that cannot wait until the surgery opens, therefore, please call the Out of Hours Service.

When demand for appointments is very high, we operate a system of triage for all requests to see a doctor with a new problem. This is designed to provide access to the most appropriate doctor at the soonest available time that is convenient to you.

Triage involves speaking to a nurse or doctor when you want to book an appointment.

For new problems, we will organise for you to be seen by the Urgent Care GP or a nurse as appropriate as soon as possible and certainly within 48 hours.

For ongoing problems, a Health Care Administrator will try to book an appointment with your usual doctor in the next available appointment.

Teaching/Training of Health Care Professionals

The practice occasionally undertakes the teaching/training of health care professionals; we will always seek your permission for the trainee to participate/observe during your consultation.

Videotaping Consultations

This may be done for training purposes but ONLY with your consent. Examinations are NEVER recorded and the camera can be turned off at any time if requested.
