About us

Our Practice

Founded in 1976 Stirchley Medical Practice was considered to be located in the heart of the local community where it has continued to remain. In 2019 our practice expanded, merging with Sutton Hill Medical Practice. Determined by our locality, today we are active members of the Southeast Telford Primary Care Network.

Covering two sites we have a large primary care team consisting of GPs, ANPs, UCPs, Nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social prescribers and a first contact physiotherapist who serve our population of 25,000 patients.

For the past 30 years we are proud to have been a training practice and have been affiliated with Keele University since the early 2000s, training GPs. We also have a close working relationship with Wolverhampton University supporting student nurses and nursing associates.

Green Statement

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide environmentally sustainable healthcare we have introduced a ‘think before you print’ slogan. These can be seen above the main photocopiers in the practices. We have replaced paper copies of rotas with digital versions, and we encourage clinicians to send information to patients electronically rather than in paper format.

We have introduced a recycling facility for our plastic waste at both sites which will reduce our carbon footprint and in 2025 we have also introduced ‘No Mow May’ an initiative that encourages landowners to refrain from mowing their lawns to support pollinators. This has been very successful at our Stirchley site where the area can be seen from our staff carpark.

Infection Control Annual Statement 2025

Stirchley Medical Practice annual Infection Control Statement will be generated each year in the month of February in accordance with the requirements of The Health and Social Care Act 2008: Code of Practice on the prevention and control of infections and related guidance.

It shall summarise:

  • Any infection transmission incidents and any action taken (these will have been reported in accordance with our Significant Event procedure)
  • Details of any infection control audits undertaken, and actions required.
  • Details of any risk assessments undertaken for prevention and control of infection
  • Any review and update of policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Details of staff training.

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead

Sister Tammy Worthington is the Lead Clinician for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) at Silkin Health. The IPC lead is supported by Clinical Strategy Manager Sister Laura Tyrer. Both staff members have completed the primary development centres infection control (IPC) training at level 2.

Infection transmission incidents (Significant Events)

Significant IPC events are investigated in detail to identify what can be learnt and to indicate changes that might lead to future improvements. All significant IPC events are reviewed in clinical meetings and learning is cascaded to all relevant staff.
The annual Infection Prevention and Control Audit was completed by Sister Laura Tyrer in April 2025 and we are pleased to report there have been no significant infection control breaches in the previous 12 months.

Our next review date is February 2026.
